1. Can anyone tell me if using g12 antifreeze is required to be used over other types of coolants?
2. Is there a problem with my car if the volt meter is reading 14.5 to 15 ?
Battery or alternator?

You should indicate your year. You could drain the cooling system and switch.
I would stay with the G-12. Pentosin makes G-12.
