Default Agh!

So, my Dell's hard drive bit the dust, which really sucks since it had allll of my stuff for work on it, a ton-o-music, and my manly entertainment needs, as well as my general life. And, like the majority of computer users, my backups are a joke. Anyway, new hard drive is on it's way, but in the meantime, I've been using my old school G3 iBook. It's a little on the slow side, but, using it has kinda rekindled my love of the lighter side of computering (as my girlfriend puts it.) I'm in the market for a new computer, and the thought of buying a computer with Vista on it is about as appealing as trading my A4 for a pink 2CV. I'm thinking a MacBook with Linux partition on it.

Anyone play with Leopard yet? My friends girlfriend has one and it's pretty sleek, but it's kinda hard to get to know an OS by just playing with it for a few minutes.

I'm not a Mac person, but unless you depend on a lot of Window specific programs, there sure ain't nuthun' wrong with 'em.

This thing caught my eye: http://www.apple.com/macbookair/

Also... for future reference... buy a few cheap external USB or firewire hard drives and just copy your stuff to them every month or so in the future. It's a pretty decent cheapo way to make sure you got your stuff backed up... plus you can always grab them and run in the case of fire, flood or attack of giant killer man eating locust!

Also, as an FYI... your drive might not be bootable, but some of your data may be recoverable. If you can get your hands on an external hard drive enclosure with a USB connection or can hook it up as a slave in another PC you might still be able to access the data on the drive with that PC and copy it off somewhere. Just a suggestion before you give up all hope.

I have a MacBook Pro and love it but I need to utilize it better(meaning get photoshop/other editing software), also I need to get leapord.

Hey Carlos, is there any free addware/spyware scanners out for Mac's. Mine currently like to randomly reboot itself and I think I might have something,(I know I know mac's don't get sick but ya never know)
