Agh!
I need a notebook, I haven't owned a desktop in years. I still have my Compaq TC1000 slate PC with all my ultra-mobile programs on it. I don't really use a computer for much besides the internet, but I love the battery life Macs offer. My iBook (with a replaced battery) still gets around 5.5 hours on a single charge. My Dell with two batteries manages about 7.5 hours, and my friend says she gets about that on her Macbook with only one battery, and she still gets to keep her optical drive in it. *is jealous*
hmmm might be corrupt system files or bad ram... try verifying the disk in disk utilities... then try blowing out the inside for dust with compressed air... it might be overheating... if after all that it still has problems take it to you local apple store
Yeah i think the same thing happened to me when I start my dell laptop some error message appears saying something along the line of being unable to retrieve something then it starts up as is brand new with only basic software installed and none of my saved music games and "videos". Any thoughts on the matter? Do you think if I bring it to some sort of IT person they would be able to retrieve my itunes music library (that is all I really want) if so who would I go to for such a thing and how much would it cost me?
for those of you with HDD failures, invest $10-$15 bucks in a external USB-HDD enclosure. Pull your HDD and put it in the ext. Pulg in teh ext. If your drive spins up, and shows up as an add'l drive on whatever box you plugged it into, you problem is NOT the drive. Plus, with it plugged in to another box, you can usually retrieve whatever files/folders you have on there.
Yes, it's an over-simplification, but it's cheaper than a $100.00 trip to the Techie-store.
(make sure the ext enc'l MATCHES your HDD (EIDE/SATA/e-SATA) or you still might not be able to "see" your hard-drive.
