1st time, the $200.00 deductible that came with my Credit Cards rental-car coverage. After that, I paid for the extra insuranced they offered at the counter, so it dint cost me anything. Well, almost nothing. By the second accident I had become friends with both the guy that ran the counter, AND the guy that managed teh station, so it kinda cost me a LOT of ribbing, and my pick-of-the-lot-for-economy-car-rates status. I was riding the Per Diem gravy train, at the time, so I got a different rental every weekend, for gits & shiggles, to tear *** around Germany with, so I wudn't put so many miles on MY car, since I was AVERAGING 600 miles per weekend, back then. I seriously used to get 5-series BMW's and C-class Merc's, 525's, 528's, 530's C220's C280's for, like $125./$135. from Friday til Monday. unlimited mileage, back with a FULL tank (all the good cars usually were not prepped for rental, yet, so I tended to get them with less than a full tank. Small price to pay. I even got an ALfa Spider, once, that I ended up getting a FELONY stop in, on my way back to turn it in, because I was zooming around southeastern Stuttgart highways at, like 220-250kph... Gud times. MAN! I miss Europe.

Q: Why won't they offer rental cars in America with Manual transmissions?!?!?[:@]

A: It's remarkably like a felony stop here in teh US. Cops and GUNS! ****'d off cops and GUNS POINTED AT YOU, in fact. They asked me if I wanted to see teh video, but I declined. I took their word for it. Apparently someone had stolen a Black over baseball-glove leather Spyder, earlier that day, so as we went zooming by the undercover cops they initiated a pursuit, which I took to be some Hermans tryin to outrun me in my (rented) Spider. Oddly enough, it as a FWD Audi 80 the cops were driving. Once they realized it was a couple of G.I.s in a rental they called off the rest of the cops that were blocking off the road a couple of miles up. (6 cars. saw them after I was released with a 100 in a 60 speeding ticket. I think they were embarrased that a guy in a spider was basically out running them.) They ONLY caught me because I pulled into a line of cars that was waiting to make a turn a a red left-arrow. they were SO burned. I TOTALLY had them. Of course, the road-block WOULD have worked, if I had kept straight.
Bottom line, felony stops ARE NOT FUN, unless you like cops pointing guns at you!

Q: Ever been IN a felony stop?
