Anybody hike?!
High 70s in winter....
Here are some weather stats for where I live. (I know some people have more extreme weather, but this is me in Vermont vs you in Arizona).
Some highlights....
Average high, July, 81°
Average low, January, 8°
Average possibility of sunshine - best chance, August, 60% chance.
worst chance November, 31% chance.
On average, 51 days out of 365 there will be no weather (clear). 154 days it'll be rainy. Another 52 days it'll be cloudy, but not rain. That doesn't count partly cloudy days.
On average, 7 days a year it'll be over 90° but it'll be below 5°F 36 days a year.
Thats proper weather. None of this 70 degree winter BS!

I used to hike a lot and in the summer I love nothing more then running the hiking trails around where I live. But since I started college my work out routine has been shot and I'm having trouble getting motivated to do anything about it.
I used to hike a lot but a 6 year old and a three year old have crimped my ability to do fun outdoorsy things. It's about 30 outside now anyway so not great hiking weather.
Another perspective I have is that dressed like that it wasn't a hike, it was a pleasant walk. When I was a paratrooper at Ft. Bragg and had to march 12 miles in sand wearing full battle-rattle, that was a real hike.

Amze, don't listen to this guy, orry KY_allroad I have the utmost respect for those in the armed forces especially since one of my best friends is about to head over to Iraq and another friend is already there. But how can you condesend on anyone who is trying to stay physically active in this day in age in America.
Sure I can run exploits how I've done 50mile 4-day backpack trips that include full 50lb packs, but who cares, a hike is a hike. When I summited the Tooth of time and went back down in the span of 3 hours (usually takes people 5-6), that was more of a workout then those long hikes because I was pretty much running up a mountain and then bounding back down. It doesn't matter how much weight you have on your pack as long as your out in nature exercising.
Sorry for the rant but for some reason recently I hate it when people hop on someone and try to bellitle their accomplishment.
Anyways here are some pics of one of my favorite places to hike if you know it you know it and if you don't then you should find out the hard way.

^^^^ the summit of the one I basically ran up and then down. I forget exactly but it is close to a mile elevation change and the trail we take is at times about 75% grade with loose rocks and stuff.
So in closing, Amze keep on keeping on and have fun with day hikes that are the best.

Haha, I'm guessing it was a solid night at the bars if it took you 4.5 hours.

So I think 'pleasant' is a little extreme.. 2.5 miles up, 2.5 miles down.. So it wasn't as hardcore as 14 miles. They have a 14 mile way to the top, but its gradual and boring, made for joggers and families, etc...
I'm mainly dodging cactus's the entire time, making sure my foot doesn't go through ones laying all over the floor. haha.
And thanks cab, definitly will. you should find that motivation to start working out again, i'm a month deep into working out, put on 6lbs so far, feels good to know you're changing and accomplishing.
Just start, and don't stop!
