sketchy. how/where do you cut that gives you access to install, but still allows you to cleanly put them back together?

if I was to cut them, I'd cut out at least a couple of location notches to line everything back up again. I'm still not sure if I'm comfortable with the idea, but it doesn't really seem like I have a choice if I want to go through with this mod.

it's not going to happen for a while if it does. I noticed that I melted part of the interior of the passenger side light so I need to pick up another before anything else happens. we'll see how this pans out.

Why not buy a used headlight assembly to practice on instead of yours? Just a thought!

Why do you need to open the ecu???

I'm not doing this with the lights currently on my car. I picked up a used set of lights a couple of months ago that I'm just now finding time to play with.

I don't need to take apart an ECU, btw. achTTung was saying the adhesive on an ECU is similar to what was used on his headlights. I have no plans of taking my ECU apart, just the lights.

Ok....I see. The adhesive is that strong to withstand the heat from the lights. I'm shure if you heat them up in the oven and let them cool a couple of times the adhesive will crack.

I thought about playing around with that idea, but I don't want to risk melting anything else. I might be able to repair the minor damage I imparted on the passenger light. On other hand, it doesn't really hurt to experiment on a part that is already potentially ruined, right?

I don't follow... are you saying you've removed the bulbs from the housings? The project I'm undertaking is a little more involved... the lens needs to be completely removed from the housing so I can play with the internals.
