Seeing as you're in Ft. Lee and you're location on your profile is Copperas Cove, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're with the best fighting force the world has ever seen. I've been in Europe since 2001 and recently retired and I have absolutely no experience with the craft beers and micro brewers that are taking the states by storm. I'm biased but if I were in Ft. Lee right now, I'd head to the Class VI and see what their German/Belgian selection is. Once I'm back in the states, I'll definitely check out the craft beers, but for now (and the past 13 years), I'm happy with my hefe, kristal, and whatever Belgians I can find.

I just got back from a trip to Vegas and I had possibly the worst beer ever produced. Des chutes Fresh Squeezed IPA. That **** was horrible. It tasted like burnt pine needles, and the after taste lasted 4 Jack and Cokes.
But on to favorites, I really like pilsners, Budvar (the original Budweiser) and Hassleroder.

PlaneDr - +1 on the Budvar. You gotta have something stronger than that to keep warm in Hohenfels. Jager? Apfelkorn?
Brad - seen the American Blonde Lager commercials on my NFL Game Pass but we don't have it here yet. Would like to try it. Italy is more focused on the grape than the grains and it takes the shoppette longer to get new stuff.

I have an Ironhill Brewery/Resturaunt with in 15 minutes of my house. I usually go there and "try" a seasonal brew, or two, and then bring home a growler. My favorite is their house porter which is brewed year round. That said, I also like bourbon....a lot. My favorite is Basil Hayden's, neat or with whisky stones.
