Brilliant elephant thinking...
Sorry - disclaimer here - more political bs talk... move on if not interested.
This race has been one for the ages.
The political stratagems have been remarkable.
First it started off with a Democratic historic move - black male or a female?
Second since the Dems went first in the convention order - that gave the GOP the room to essentially create further chaos by choosing a female VP pick.
Now here's the kicker - if the GOP went first in the convention dates - they would have had to choose someone - and let's say if it we're someone type white guy politician - then the Dems could have gone with Biden.
But if they had chosen Palin then - then Obama would have had to choose Clinton to say "fight fire with fire".
Now the GOP is looking strong behind a radical, and fairly attractive, female choice. As it sits the lead Obama had over McCain has come to a dead heat now....
The key here is going to be the debates. Especially the VP one and only.
What I'm rather curious about is how McCain is not letting Palin out of his sights. This is rather unpresidented and can only lead to two conclusions.
1. McCain, before Palin, could rarely get anyone to show to his rallies - now it's standing room only. And that would look bad if she was drawing more positive attention than the actual Presidential candidate.
or 2. They don't trust Palin on her own. The chances may be too great she may say something wrong on the trail. So far all she talks about is the same speech she gave at the convention - almost verbatim. Then McCain does his stumping.
Normally the Prez and VP hopefuls spread out to cover more territory - this seems not to be the case in the GOP strategy.
Still those debates are going to prove interesting to say the least
