Check this car door out! (video)
It probably weighs a ton and how would you open it if the power is out? It looks kinda cool, like something in a techno-futuristic movie, but that's about it. Ugly as hell, too, on the interior.
I'm sure it has a fail-safe in the event of power loss. Look beyond the interior and all that jazz though; i mean we all know it's not really practical. But i would have never thought about this as being an optionfor a door opening. I guess if you have enough cheese, anything is possible. Still cool in my book.
Well, if you look beyond everything, all it is is a door. A heavy, slow, bulky, assf*ck ugly door. You can't just 'look beyond' something like that, because if you use that mentality then an A4 is the same exact thing as a Civic. And that's a comparison no one wants to make
This was a prototype some outfit did on a Linc. Mark VII (or VIII - ? )
Anyway, if you look at the actual ad for the car on ebay, check out the shot of the open trunk.
The trunk is filled with all sorts of servo's, wiring, electric motors, and even some sort of pressure tank. Looks like it wasn't completely engineered - probably why you never heard of it until now.
Oh - and the door on the LEFT side is broken.

Crap that's awesome! Not something I'd ever do on an Audi, but if definitely something you could put on a show car. I think they need to refine the sound it makes; imagine if that made the same sound as the doors in the Enterprise on Star Trek! The interior is definitely pretty bland; they should design some kinda automatic pop-out arm rest for it.
