I could bike to work, if needed. Only 12 miles. But, I'd have to bike through a bad part of town... not sure I want to do that w/ my $4k bike.

Is it a road bike? Chances are no one in ay any "bad parts" will even know it from a $50 Huffy.

Well you'll probably spend $4k in gas during riding season alone, so I guess it'd be a trade-off

Yes the oil companies are making money right now, but their business is either feast or famine. If I am not mistaken in the 70's into early 80's the oil business was great, but then from the middle 80's to early 90's the business was really bad. See places in Texas like Midland. So the companies have to make the most money whenever they can. This is much like what we all do. But the two biggest reasons that gas is so high are:
1. We use millions of gallons of oil a day, and not enought of it is produced in the US so oil companies pay and premium to get the oil here from other countries.
2. Countries like China andJapan are buying up as much crude oil as they can and they keeping it for future use.

I hate paying high prices like the next guy, but really there is nothing any of us can do about it.
Oil business was great in the 70s? LOL
