Sound card plays a big part when it comes to clarity.

I would say the best bet for a 2.0 speaker without sub would be Bose. Pricey but they're worth it (IMO).

I personally use a combination of Bose and JBL (home theater system) for the computer.

My brother has Bose headphones... they seem alright. I've amp'd the OEM bose speakers in our cars with great results... but Bose home theatre (those little cube speakers) suck ***. So far overpriced it's insane... you spend that same $ elsewhere, you get a far superior system.

I still like Bose as a company, though... because they try and stay cutting edge. Doesn't always work, but hey, they try.

Head I have to disagree with you on your view of bose speakers. These are absolutely wonderful speakers for the size. That's why I said if you have the money drop it on the bose.

But in an unrelated note, what setup do you have? I experience a strange interference on occasion with these and I have a wireless mouse/keyboard setup from logitech. Currently I'm using a 26 inch hdtv as a monitor and have my audio from my 360 coming through the line out in that tv going into my computer then back to my speakers. When I unplug the line out from the tv the sounds go away. Just curious as to what your setup is, I'm sure a new set of rca cables would do the trick but broke college students stay broke college students.

It's for 2.0 speaker set up like Panda has asked, no use spending a lot of money on it.

I have a 37" 1080p display that pulls double duty as my computer monitor and my TV.

I've got the Logitech Z5500 speakers connected to my computer, and that's all they are connected to. When I watch TV, I just have audio through the craptastic TV speakers. Does the job in a small room, though.

I use a microsoft wired keyboard with Logitech G9 wired mouse. I still get interference.
I've got no RCA's to upgrade... if I did, I've got some Streetwires Z6 RCA's sitting in my basement... 3 pairs... from my old B5's stereo. Haha, those will continue to collect dust, though.

The bose sound amazing for their size... but I guess my point was, unless you need to have little cubes, your money is better spent on something that might be 300% their size (still not very big) and sound much better. Those Bose lifestyle speakers are targeted at a very niche market... and people who don't know any better.
