Default CR surprise

i was reading Consumer Reports this morning on the train to work and i noticed that they gave the audi A4 got excellent across the board for testing. They tested like over 200 vehicles. funny part is they only recommend certain ars and they didnt recommend the audi, in any categories, i think they are audi haters. i quote " The V6 is quiet and responsive. The 1.8-liter turbo Four is responsive, but less refined.....Reliabilty has been disappointing, but seems to be on the upswing"

Strange... excellent test results, but no recommendations.

If I remember correctly, they (meaning consumer reports) were pretty high on the A4 back in 2000 or 2001 and actually did reccomended it. Car and Driver seems to be pretty balanced when they review cars. When I lived in Michigan my office was across the hall from Car and Driver. I got to meet Casaba Csere and some of the other writers/testers. They would always have something new out in the parking lot. Never got to drive any of them. lol

I got that same feeling when I was flipping through the mag last month. I was thinking to myself "If I were buying a car right now, this thing would not be very helpful," well at least in the recommendation department.
