You REALLY DO NOT WANT DO DO A COLOR CHANGE DO YOU?
You are talking disassembly of virtually every part on the outside of the car, plus whatever you have to take off to paint the door jambs.
Then there's the engine compartment.
You're lookiing at about 5G's....
Unless you want to put an Earl Scheib job on your Audi.
Either way, you are going to hurt the car's value
.
Looks to me like it's only the fender - and it may be repairable.

(I'm in auto insurance collision claims.)

[sm=insomnia.gif]5k!!!!!GOOD LORD!!!! it is only a fender; i though it may be like a thousand or so to have it painted over. i was wanting to get it painted b4 my wife banged it up............just thought this would be the perfect time to do it sense i was going to have to get work done on it anyway.

looks like i'll be filing it on my insurance and be happy with the colour i have..........yeah the milange is looking very, very nice right now!!!!!

Haha, yes... any paint job less than 5K is surely going to be lessor than factory. A colour change for me, would be just as the guy above described... right down to yanking the engine to paint the bay. All weatherstripping and trim would come off, door handles out, mirrors out, glass out, EVERYTHING. Otherwise, it'd bother me.

Plus, as for resale... people would think you got into a hell of an accident. Nobody paints a new car just for the hell of it.

Oh god though... can you imagine somebody putting a maaco paint job on a new audi? Cause they wanted a colour change!? *shudders*... I wonder if maaco would even do it. I'd like to think they'd try and talk the guy out of it...

I would think that someone with a nice car would know better than to take a nice car to a production paint shop.
But then....."Never over-estimate the good tase of the American public"
I saw a Mercedes 190 once with those wide (about 12") Pep Boys "TURBO" racing stripe decals all over it.

Yes... what people "should" or "should not" do... is beyond the realm of reason for some people. People are strange... and do strange things. :P I could see somebody enthralled by the maaco ad, and picturing their car in some sweet new colour, for only $299!!!1!111one

nope, not feeling $5k blessed. i'm making the claim on my insurance today. i also asked a few friends opinions on the change from the milange, and they said that i would be crazy to do it and they loved the colour.......i think i'll leave well enough alone.
