Danica Patrick - Will she win Indy
Ok...that was intertaining....
but to get back to the topic...
Having talent at driving at extreme speed in traffic, on public roads, and being a professional race driver, that qualified for Indy are completely different things. Different skills, only related by the fact that both take place in a car.
Being good at something at an amature level vs being good at something at a professional level are worlds apart.

So, what do you think about Danica Patrick. She seems to have a legitimate chance at Indy. She has a good team, car and skills.
I think she is going to need more experience before she can win Indy, but I think she has the potential, and has a really good shot at being the first women to win Indy. Maybe a couple of years down the line. It would be fantastic for the sport.

I think it would be phenominal for her to win. I think more Americans (I'll allow the occassional Canadian, Spence) shoule be involved in open wheel racing here in America. The Indy has ALWAYS, since it's inception, attracted droves of foreign drivers. But I'd like to see a run of about 20-25 home-grown drivers win the big cup. It'd prolly be rilly cool if Danica were at the lead off hitter in this sweetest of rally's. BUT, I don't see it happening THIS year. I see her crashing out or breaking something before the halfway point. Stranger things have happened, though. Ya neva kno.
As to the POA thing... meh... not my type. to fast

No hard feelings here...I am not a huge fan of Indy, Nascar or really any form of racing, but when I catch it on TV I find Formula 1 to be the type that catches my interest the most, fast fast cars on street courses, now that sounds like fun.
While not UNPRECENDETED, rookies have only won in 8 of the 89 runnings of the Indy 500. The first few kinda skew the curve because, for teh first running the WHOLE FIELD was rookies. It wasn't a globally popular race way back then, ya know. Toss out the first five u=years and there've been just 5 out of 89.
So, Beginner's Luck:
Rookies who have won the Indy 500...
Year Driver
2001 Helio Castroneves
2000 Juan Montoya
1966 Graham Hill
1927 George Sounders
1926 Frank Lockhart
1914 Rene Thomas
1913 Jules Goux
1911 Ray Harroun
