Default EVO Intake

is it me, or does the evo intake for the 2.7t engine seem like its just a cone filter with some mounting hardware?

http://www.evoms.com/s4%2027%20intake.htm

judging from the pic of all the hardware, it seems like the filter would be the most expensive part

what are your thoughts on this

couldnt you just get a k&n cone filter, and mount it yourself, like $289? there isnt even any custom bend piping that would make up for that cost, is there something im missing with this intake? any eletronics that are included, but not displayed? someone please enlighten me

well there is also a heat sheild but yes it is basically a cone filter. The reason they charge that is becuas people will pay that w/o figuring that out.

if you can find a shop that has one in stock you should buy it, copy the heat shield, and return it..that heat shield is pretty important though

yea that would be the hardest part, is making a heat sheild of some sort. but id expect it to be alot cheaper to find ur own heat sheild and install everything urself. maybe even 2 aluminum sheets and in the middle of them slab on alotta thermal paste or something.

could do that too, dont know any local places around here that would sell me a evo intake off the self tho man. usually they would have to order it from the states. i think there is actually one shop about 1 and half hours from my house. they are a registered apr vendor, so they have that kinda ****. kinda far tho [>:]
