I'm shocked that you don't know more about the Z8. The Z8 is an E39 M5 with a 500 pound lighter all aluminum roaster body bolted to it. It's faster in a straight line than the Vantage Volante, an their handling numbers are nearly the same. And this is from a car that's five years older than the Vantage. If by not "even close to the car the Vantage is" you mean the Z8 doesn't have an Aston badge on the nose, then you're right. If you mean performance, you're dead wrong. The Z8 will outrun the Vangate Volante of a roadcourse, outrun it on the dragstrip, and probably pull just as much tail.

Bland, pfft. Drive them back to back and then tell me what you think.

And as much as I like the Vantage coupe, let's be realistic for a second. It's performance numbers are IDENTICAL to the 93 Supra Turbo. And not even counting inflation is still costs over twice what the Supra did when it came out.The Vantage is a great car, but it is most certainly not some Big Step Forward.

 

Oh its on now baby No, im not talking performance..just overall picture of each car. Firstly, ill say this. If I could have any car.. and oh jeez i just caught my mistake. lol. Im thinking of a vanquish.. not vantage. NM the whole thing..yeah, id take the z8 over the vantage... But if i could have nay car it would be the vanquish. The car is just ubelievable looking inside and out. The performance isnt quite there.. but its awesome.

I have to say, I'd still take the Z8 over the Vank, unless of course I could sell the Vank for it's retardedly ridiculous price of over $200k and get a Z8, another M5 and have plenty of cash left over for all the underage Thai hookers I could bang in a year.

Make fun all you want, but do me a favor and reserve judgement until you drive one. I like many, thought of the Z3 as an overpriced Miata. Then I drove the hell out of one for a few weeks. It is a serious driver's machine under all that goofy looking bodywork. It grabs the pavement like an alimony check. The steering feedback is phenomenal. The balance is sublime. I had less than twenty minues experiencein it before I could hit full opposite lock around a roundabout and steer it with the throttle anytime I wanted. And this was a 98 model with the smallengine and only 170hp (I think). I can only imagine how much fun the M version of it much be with 240hp in the early ones or 315 in the later ones. And to think that you can buy the 97-98 model for under ten grand now (the 96 had the tiny engine, not realy worth it there). Honestly, there is no car you can buy for under $10k that is more funto drivethan the 97-98 Z3. Ok, so you'll look like a milquetoast driving it, but is that really what matters? Or is it the unadulterated driving experience? I'd buy one in a heartbeat, because it's better to look silly in one than be passed by one.

as for makin fun ... i did nt say it was nt a great car to drive .. id love one ... but i would have to quit the club ! call my self julian ! and get blonde streaks !

The fastest i have gone was when i topped out my friends '06 Z-750s, 175mph...going west on the 126, from valencia to fillmore in what felt like two minutes!...in a car...140 something in my friends E36 M3...as for the BMW Zs....the Z8 is amazing (looks(alpina!), haven't driven it)...I have driven a Z1(my dad did a loan for a car collector, and the loan went bad so he seized the cars!), and I have a 1998 Z3 widebody 2.8L, and it is unbelievably fun in the twisties!, I'd say the Z3 is probably the funnest car I have ever driven...oh, and they are coming out with a Z2!...keep your eyes out!...oh and the Z4 is a nice car, but I like the 3's lines alot better...oh, and I have taken my a4 all the way up to 90!...I like acceleration, but top end does not interest me all that much, especially in the audi which would take a LONG stretch of road to top out.....oh and I topped out the Z3 at 126

 

Wow, a Z1 is frikkin rare! Those weird little doors freak me out everytime I see them. That's just not right.

The Alpina Z8 is wierd though. They got rid of the M5 engine, and put in a smaller V-8 with less HP. It's lighter weigh was supposed to help handling, but it didn't feel any different to me. And the auto tranny is just so wrong is a car like that. Big, powerful roadsters are supposed to be manuals.
