What's the deal with Ethanol? A local gas station began selling it today.

Ethanol Sucks!! Plain an simple. I live in South Dakota(it sucks dont ask) the heart of Ethanol country and a lot of people buy it. What those consumers dont know is the ethanol burns hotter, then in turn gets burned faster than regular gasoline so you get worse gas mileage. Audi does not look kindly at ethanlol because of this. IMO dont use ethanol

EDIT: The only benefit that I can see from their ads is that its made from corn(that I already knew) and that it grows back every year. And on that note, even though it does grow back every year the soil gets worn out so some day it has to stop.

 

It takes a special engine. It has something to do with corn haha. Chevy has several models called flex fuel engines and they can take normal octane, E85, or any mix of the 2. The ford F-150 has a northland addition that also takes it but I think thats the only ones i know of. Im from Minnesota so It was all over our auto show becuase apparently we grow lots of corn. haha all i know is that its like 50 cents cheaper at any of the station i know of.

 

Yeah my pops just bought a brand new nissan titan this year w/ the 305 hp v8 and you can run E85 in it. I guess it just eats the stuff up, you can almost watch the needle go down
