Default This is getting ridiculous...

Race issues being what they are... this is just outright stupidity.

First off let me say that I'm a Barack Obama supporter - why? Because the guy has class and seems to be a firm believer in change and could possibly help the current state of the nation. I say this because I'm not trying to slam Obama on this issue, but...

Be that as it may something like this happens and things just get stupid quick...

"An Illinois delegate to the National Democratic convention says she will attend the event despite controversy over her calling a neighbor's children monkeys.

Linda Ramirez Sliwinski, a Carpentersville trustee backing Barack Obama, stirred made the comment as her black neighbor's children played in a tree. A spokesman for Sliwinski said she did not mean anything racial when she called the children monkeys.

At first, she said she would not go the convention, then changed her mind, the Chicago Tribune reported.

It is clear that the incident was a misunderstanding, Obama spokesman Ben LaBolt said. Ms. Ramirez Sliwinski is an elected delegate and we respect her decision to represent the campaign at the convention. (c) UPI"

This elderly woman got a $75 ticket for the proposed racial slur!

What has this nation come to?!?!? has race become such an issue that people get fined for saying sheet like this???

This is where Obama could make some clear points on how stupid this has become. And get people to quit being so wrapped up in the trivial.

Now if she had said "porch monkeys" that would have been different - but for gawd sakes this has got to end!

And so does my rant [/align]

Some people look for the wrong meanings in people's words. It's sad but true. I'd call my own children monkeys as well if they were playing in a tree.... but I would never let my kids play in a tree. Lol

I dont see anything wrong with calling children climbing a tree monkeys? Thats what monkeys do.... climb trees. And even if she started dropping n-bombs(not that I condone that), it's her right to say anything in the world she wants to.

on a side note, I co-own a landscaping company, and a rival company in the same town is named the "Yard Apes" with a few black guys in the crew........I found that interesting, lol

lol... I have a "yard monkey" position - he's the guy that moves vehicles and does clean up around the yard. Never had a black guy in the position - mexican and whites mostly.

wonder if I should call it "automobile confinement manager" instead
