Default how horrible could a 2.8 be?

in a previous post of mine, you guys told me to only shop for a 1.8t.. but how bad could a 2.8 be? i probably won't be tuning it for performance.. i don't have a lot of money. so if i just want a daily driver that looks clean, wouldn't a 2.8 suffice?

I drove my 2.8 for more than a year. It was a great engine. Most of the people here are hung up on modding the engines. Go for it!

Well, Im coming from experience with a 2.8 VR6. I wasnt a fan of it after awhile... I had more problems with it than anything but she never once broke down. If you want the meaty V6, go for it.

im still in high school, so its not like i have the money to mod a 1.8t. so what im thinking is that a 2.8 would last me until i would be able to afford something better.

im in HIgh School and i have a 2.8. Never had a ny problems otehr than having to pay for a timing belt to be done. And there are mods for it just not like there is with teh 1.8T. Its way more reliable and has more power than the 1.8T stock. It also has teh s/c option. If u ahve any otehr questions about the car u can PM me. I am more than happy to help u out with it and i should be able to answer almost all of ur questions. I also have to ask which 2.8? The 30V or the 12V?

apg, take it easy....and congrats on fixin that stripped bolt

i've got a 12V and i love it. the engine is far more reliable than the 1.8T, and they have better options than the 1.8Ts..real leather, power seats, typically more options are installed on the 2.8s as well
