(i'm talkin the cheap wonder stuff, which i don't buy anyway, but can you imagine paying $3.50 for that stuff?)

The price of bread is still about 47 cents a loaf if and only if you make it from scratch. Buying a 50 pound bag of flour for $18 and using sourdough starter, tap water, and minor miscellaneous ingredients based on your particular tastes makes 47 cents a good average cost for a 1-1.5 pound loaf.

The goofiest thing I put on toast is butter then Rogers Golden Syrup - I usually eat my toast dry since it has such good flavor all its own....

Great! Fresh home-made bread is even better than toast since the character of the crust comes out as separate from the character of the crumb. The end result is heavenly.

Commercial breads are the equivalent of someone trying to tell you that their AWD Honda Passport is *just like* your Audi Quatro....
