Talking Just Bought a Passport 9500i radar detector!!

So, I thought I'd share this with a few people who care to know.

I just bought a passport 9500i radar detector! It came today. I'm going to check it out tonight to see how it works. I'm excited for the GPS feature. Supposedly it will remember hot spots or spots where there are automated doors (like bestbuy, walmart, etc) and lock out those freq while still looking for new freq when passing that spot!

Now I can speed with confidence....haha. Actually, I can't believe I never got a ticket in the 8 years I have been driving....and speeding on top of that hahaha. I was always riding my breaks when I thought I saw something at the brink of my eye. Now...no more riding the breaks as much...and I don't have to feel tense when the gauge needle goes past the speed limit.

I will update how this baby is working after I try it out for a few nights.

If anyone else is intersted, that specific model is hovering for about $300 at ebay (originally $450-500). It may be a steep price, but if you think about it, a ticket is about $100 and then your the insurance....in the end it costs more. And my thoughts are, if you are going to buy something like this, you may as well get the best 'cause you don't want something that will work halfassed.

Well, so far after one night testing, it seems to be working superb. I am able to lock out freq at certain spots which are automated doors and such as it is gps capable too. But, if a cop is sitting in this same spot, it will detect the new freq and notify me. Not too bad. That way, you have very few false positives. I'm liking it so far.

i have the 9500i and it is working great so far. just pay attention to the warnings. 2 of my tickets were because i had the music too loud and the windows down so i didn't hear the alert.

Nice! I like the features you mention of the higher end ones....I only had around 100$ budget to get mine, as it was a xmas gift. It's a Cobra, I don't recall which model, but I quite like it - It has all really good features, except for the memory/gps features that you mentioned...

Interestingly, I found that my B7 A4 emits a base level of Ku band (only used in Europe, as I understand it) so I had to turn that band off

Just my 2 cents. Depending on the area they are useless. We've discussed on here before how radar and lasers work. This will be good for you if you drive on non curves or flat ground. today radars are not like the old day and run non stop, they can be turned on or of faster than the eye can meet! so a little scenario if you are driving on lets say a highway and a cop is running cars if you are towards the back and he is hitting cars in front of you your good the detector will go off you slow down and win no ticket. down side you're on a rural road going over a hill you peak the hill by the time the detector trips your speed is already locked in! Same with going around a turn! I will say I have one in my car. It mainly works highway! I've had it work on rural roads but not often. We have even road tested a Passport 9500ix and sure enough of reg. roads the speed was locked before the detector tripped 8 out 11 times. Please note I'm not writing this to be a d-bag but just to say they are not 100% Do let me know how you like it!
