A thought crossed my mind a few minutes ago, and I thought I would share...

People can get pretty massive gains slapping a turbo on the VR6 engine...

The W12 is essentially two VR6's on a single crank...

See where I'm going with this?

The massive unreliability has most to do with the internals. Which, you'd upgrade, anyway, if you were gonna boost dat beast.

I've though of this for quite a few years, now. I've wanted a W12 Pheaton since the the mid-2000s. Every tuning shop I've talked to about it feels pretty much like Chocolot, tho. I just don't yet have enough currency to convince anyone to make the attempt. Chip-tuning is all you'll find.

I still want one, tho. Just for the exclusivity. 19s, tint, a 1.5" - 2" drop... Pimpin'. HARD!

 

I've seen one (Phaeton) rolling around Ft. Hood...

 

There's about half a dozen, that I've seen, in and around the Metro DC area.

So, to expand on your original thought... If you can build a 1,000+HP VR6, and V-dubs W12 is simply 2 VR6s ona common crank, a 2,000HP w12 *SHOULD* be achievable.

But, IDT you'll ever see even a 1,500HP Phaeton.
