Even if it is less than 1k... don't buy it to drive it. If you feel that you can get it so cheap that you can sell it for more... then do that. But don't drive it in the interim. If the transmission works well now... then sell it without driving it. It could have a matter of weeks until it goes bad! haha

 

The car actually appears to be in great shape for '93, but i would dish out some extra cheese and get an A4.
