Printers Suck!

Haha, good stuff.
My Black and White laser printers have all been great... I currently use a Brother DCP-7030 all-in-one and it's been awesome for 2 years. My parents have been using an HP B&W Laser for about 3-4 years, and my girlfriend had a Konica Minolta B&W that is still going after 3 years... all have gone through toner (the Brother is just now low and I just ebayed a new one this morning) but they've all been reliable and cost about 70 bucks on sale (CDN).
But yeah, ink jets are horrible. I'd never ever ever buy a photo printer or anything like that.

Haha this is too funny. I actually came out onto the forum because I'm so @%#! pissed off at my printer and need to do something else for a while. Fancy $400 job that prints big-*** photos. $80 for the full set of ink. Less than a year in, it's already lost considerable quality. It might just be that the ink is getting old, so woohoo! another $80. I should just spend the money at Ritz Camera.

Well after hours of cleaning the nozzle (yes yes, snicker if you must), aligning the heads, getting new ink, etc., it turns out it was the #$%! paper I was using. Sigh - gotta love technology. Just happy I don't need a new printer.

Oh, and BTW, if you're going to print lots of color pictures, you need to be smart.
I will mention one word: Niagara IV. Okay, a word and a couple of Roman numerals.
If you buy a printer without Niagara support...well, to be nice, let's just say you didn't do your homework. I can print hundreds of 8x10 photo quality pictures on a single set of 4 oz. ink bottles.

click on "bulk ink systems"
This is how you choose a printer. If it doesn't have bulk support, don't buy it.
P.S. I get a set of 6 4 oz. bottles for less than $60.
