The B5 Alarm system is notoriously weak. Parts from B5 S4's go for a lot of money.

Anyone that puts money into a B5 better put a decent alarm into it at the least.

 

LMAO @ Suzuki Aerio. I could probably find enough money in my couch cushions to buy one of these, why would anyone go through the effort of stealing it.

S4s-- how many are out there? This study is based on the proportion of cars stolen to the total number of that model insured. I don't see too many S4s running around, not the way I see BMW Ms or MB AMGs. At least the thieves have good taste though (S4)!

 

I see b5 S4's on a daily basis around my town... they aren't that rare. but yeah, at least auto stealers have nice taste......

 

So I guess the moral of the story is... if you must buy an S4, get a 2001 model year, because it's #25; compared to my2000 at #20 and my2002 at #6. Right?

 

This list is somewhat misleading, since it bases the figures on how many cars are stolen out of how many are currently registered with the DMV. Things like the M-roadster, Marauder and S4 are anomalies. VERY few of them get stolen, but due to the low production numbers, the ratio is higher. That doesn't really tell you anything about how likely you car is to be stolen. To put it more clearly, only 1600 2001 M-Roadsters were made. If every one of those is still on the road, then to top the list at 1 in every 200 being stolen, only 8 cars have to be stolen. Now I don't know about you, but if I was buying a type of car of which only 8 were stolen the year before, I wouldn't be too worried about theft.
