roll-back mileage

so a local guy i know has a 2002 S4 for sale. claiming 45,000 miles on it and a H&R coilover set , rims, lots of exterior mods.
the thing is, is that he's selling it for $19,000......which i think is like hella cheap!

i remember back in highschool hearing that this guy used to git wrecked cars or police seized cars for cheap, then fix them up and sell them after driving them around for only a short while. we're pretty sure it doesnt have an R-title, but I will find out for sure within a few days.

I havnet ran the vin number yet, but plan to soon. I know its possible to roll-back or install a switch to stop ur mileage on things such as civics and what not, but is it possible to do something along those lines with an electronic odometer? such as whats in our audis?

Anything is possible. On my 911, you can remove a single fuse and freeze the odometer. It also controls the anti-lock brakes and the speedo. I don't know if a similar fuse exist on Audis or not, but I know that electronic odometers can be disabled.

all he would have to do is replace the $700 guage cluster and it would be back at 0, so if he spent 700 to make probably 5000 extra theres a chance he would if he was the dishonest type

If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.

If you've got a bad feeling just walk away.

electronic odometer is the easiest to roll back if you have the right software and a lap top "I do this my self but only when a person needs a new clock fitting" then I set it to the other clock and register it with our D.V.L.A ( the legal way );)

Scarry stuff right there... Makes me glad that I purchased the car from a Certified dealer... would be some pretty shady stuff if they did it. [:@]
