Back when I was a kid went to the store with my mom, she drove. Was in the left hand turn lane second car. Red turn light but green for the straight. She was doing something, not really paying attention since we were sitting still. The truck infront of us takes off, so my mom starts going to. The truck then moved over 1 lane and went straight, fron the turning lane. Mom turns left into on-comming traffic. Lucky we made it across the intersection b4 the 3 lanes of traffic reached it. I would have been f*cked in the passenger seat.


In my car i took a corner too sharp after it rained and slid into the grass. Stopped 2 ft from a road sign(in front) and 1 foot from the chain link fence (r-side). This was kind of fun in that thrilling I'm an idiot way.

 

Old story, but basicly, my first car was an 88 chevy caprice classic wagon. My dad wanted to get me a 70 1/2 camaro with some sick 400 in it. but my mother said she didn't want to get me anythnig that I could kill myself in (normal stupid statment from her) Well my mod bug got the best of me and I had that engine out in no time. head work (and I meen big time), cam, intake (manifold not tubing) bigger carb. headers strait back exahust that came out infront of the back tires (cus it was $100 cheeper). Oh and a 150 shot that I used every onec in a while. thing would run. beat many a corvette, and every thing slower. fun car. wish I still had it. but you had to adjust the valves everyday, and I had it apart every month doing maintnace.

 

4 me it was when i was 17 my friend was driving and we were going down the highway we all looked down or off the road at the same time and drifted off the road. The driver cut the wheel hard putting the car sideways and brought us back on the road. I thought either we were going to flip or just crash into oncoming trafic. Oh, the other time was when driving with my buddy on a side street and a kid ran in front of us, the only reaction i could make was grip the dash and yell (oh SH$T). I never thought in a million years that we would stop in time.

 

comeing back from the casino in niagra, my buddy is the only one who puts cruise control on at 180kms, well he fell asleep at the wheel, starts drifting across the lanes and my other buddy in the front seat yells "WTF are u doin" which wakes his dumb a** up and he basicaly had the car slide left to rite left to rite, i was thinkin for sure we are goin into the gaurd rail. but it we ended up alrite, smoked a fatty after that.
another time in my work truck, i was driving threw a GREEEN light for me, and this bloody lil hatchback goes rite threw the red and i must have missed him by about half a foot. it was creapy.

 

One night I was leaving work at about midnight and was really tired after having pulled 26 hours or work over two days with only a couple hours of sleep between days and pulled up to a red stoplight to make a left turn, and for some reason I didn't think about the fact that it was a stoplight and not a stopsign, and I stopped for a second or two and made my turn. Halfway through a Honda CRV slams on his brakes and barely misses me. He was probably going about 45 and was heading right for my driver's side.

This one (well two things)happened last weekend, I went into the city for a huge house party (400 people in the back yard, 8 kegs, and live band). So I drove down and got to my buddies place who I was driving there around 9pm. So we went to the party, which I DID NOT drink at because I only have my g2, and it got broken up ar atound 1 am.

So anyways my as I was driving my friend home he was looking for some pot, so we went to some shady assed Russian drug dealers garage where there was a pregnant girl doing coke... anyways the drug dealer guy said "hey man is that your Audi? Thats a sexy car bro." then he pulls out a F***ing 9mm beretta and aims it at my face about half a foot away and says "give me the ******* keys bi***!" then he pulls the trigger and I hear a click, and he puts it away and says "naw I'm just F***ing with yeh man." So we leave after a bit(by the way I didn't smoke or do anything because I knew I had a long drive ahead)

My friend appolagized profusly for what happened, and I dropped him off at his place after eating at Ginos pizza at around 2:00 am. the funny thing was that the pizza place was PACKED like 30 people in this little hole in the ground at two in the morning(well it makes sense because the bars just let out).

So I headed out for my drive back up north where on the Highway I was drifting off bigtime, it was the scariest feeling ever. I had the windows down and the music cranked, but I was still at times, like I blinked then woke up after hearing the rumble strips in the left lane (I started in the right lane btw). This happened at least 3 times before I started to talk to myself and dance to stay awake for the remaining drive. So I ended up getting home at 5:00 am.

there are also some others that I can't remember the details, but those two are definatly the scarriest.

Well almost nothing (other than the gun in the face) compares to the feeling where you driving down the highway and you see a cop on the side of the road, your doing 150 (95 ish for the states) and you see the cop following you with the radar gun, you slow down and a half a minute later you see in year rear view the cop flying up behind you, so your heart sinks (you know the feeling lol) then you see him pull over another guy, and you sigh the biggest sigh of relief ever.

All these post about people drifting off got me to remember something. I used to work nights over summer break then I had to come in one sunday at noon. I was used to staying up till like 7-8 am so I just stayed up. At about 11 am I hit that wall where i got really tired but was wide awake all morning. So i'm drive to work but i know i drifting bad but can't help it. I just blink and bam i'm waking up. Scarry ****. Then I hear these sirens wailing and open my eyes to see me flying past a firestation as the trucks are pulling out of it. Man I was wide awake after that.

 

I was in an accident with my then "99 Trans Am. I hydroplaned on a long on-ramp at a little over 60, couldn't gain control and started to go sideways. It was noon time traffic, 4 lane freeway, and it took me about a 1/4 mile to finish doing the 180, I swear I never even slowed down...well till I hit the concrete median. So the freaky thing was how slow everything was and looking up at the Semi driver as I was facing him and I could see his expression was like "dude, your fecked"...I just kinda relaxed waited for the inevitable.

Well, I just hit the wall and never touched another vehicle and never bounced back out into traffic...pure dumb "luck".

The car was somewhat drivable and I started to back it up to the turn about cops use and succeded and then began accelerating to merge with traffic and get off the freeway when I cop pulled me over. At first he was yelling at me and asking me what I was trying to pull...then I guess he cought on that I was in shock.

That one shook me up quite a bit, it still kinda does whenever it rains heavily and I hydroplane a little.

 

ive had few of those dozing off stories... Nothing serious..just freaks you out when it happens. I had one where my buddy in his 1 gen eclipse gsx somehow managed while he was half dicking around to lose control at about 70 in the left hand lane to come across 2 lanes into the shoulder of the freeway. We were fine not even scratches (i even managed to score my first varsity hockey goal that night) but the car was pretty well ruined... still baffled at how he managed this..

And had one last year about a month after i got my audi. I was hopping onto the freeway and was having some fun and punched it up the onramp.. well i hit about 95 and let off the gas... and the turn right before getting on was MUCH sharper than i realized...so i turn hard trying to make it and the back end swung out on me and (from an outsiders POV) did a perfect powerslide aruond it and straightened right up and went on my way.. Im sure it looked really good, but scared the $hit out of me.
