Hey I got a detector for christmas that works really well and is one of the best on the market. Ive got an 02 A4, the detector comes with either a red or blue display, the red looks sweet with the red interior of my car and is cheaper than the blue. It is a Passport 8500 by Escort. http://www.escortradar.com/x50.htm
My friend had one and after riding with him I had to get one too. Its very effective. Saved me last night.
I have the passport 8500 x50 w/ red display, and it sucks compared to the v1. No comparison. It does work very well, but I got to borrow a friend's v1 for like a month and now I am spoiled.

Well i always drive within the constraints set out by the governing law enforcement agency and have no need for a radar detector.
Dont you all know that SPEED KILLS.
SLOW DOWN YOU HOOLIGANS.

Ok that was a lie.

Speed doesnt kill, it never killed anyone, its just RAPID DECELERATION into a tree that does the damage.

My only advice is keep your eyes peeled and use your mirrors, its 10 years since my last ticket but only 10 mins
since my last offence.

I looked at them too but heres the key and will always work. Look for cars in front like 1/2 mi. 90% of people hit their brakes when they see a cop. Then slow down when u see that. Also only speed with a more expensive car speeding in front of u. If its a cheaoer car they will atrget u instead. Memorize crown vic lighst (or whatever ur local PD uses), i slow down even when i dont see black and white ones b/c of the new unmarked ones around. I only have gotten one ticket, but i was in a very very loud mustang going 30 over the speed limit and no one in front of me. I hit the brakes before he got me and only got it for 17 over. 5-10 most cops wont write. I know in CA they cant write it unless its over 7mph over the posted. And when pulled over be nice and respectful to the officer.

Yep, that is the key to success. And if your cops only drive crown vics, then consider yourself lucky. Cops in Jacksonville and the beaches use every type of chevy and ford made now. There are explorers, crown vics, impalas, malibus, trailblazers, luminas, expeditions,...you name it. I just don't speed around the beaches area anymore, b/c you just can't tell. It really sux.

we have those too, but mostly crown vics. Also i dont leave to close to the beach. We have SUVs (expeditions) but they are supervisors and dont usually give tickets. But those are all black and white unless a crwon vic. and all have lights on top.
