Default Soldiers mother

Do you guys think that this mother, Sindy Sheehan, who's son died recently in the iraq war, has a right to speak with the president and ask him why he killed her son. It is my belief that once you sign up for the military, usually to pay for college, you run the risk of being killed in war, whether your for it or not, and if you are killed thats the price paid. I just lost my cousin in an attack in Iraq and my whole family knew that he might be killed, and he knew it to, and said that even though he signed up for the army and didn't like the reasons for the iraq war, he knew that when the army paid for his college, he owed them his time and paid with his life.

One the one hand, I agree. If teh kid's old enough to sign up, he's "old" enough to realize WHAT he's signing up for. There are NO "peacetime-only" provisions available in the enlistment contract. The military is a "WarFighting" organization. Whether or not you agree with the politics.

On the OTHER hand, there's no denying a Mothers' grief. Our "system" permits her a free voice to speak her heart and mind. I feel for her, and all teh other family's that have lost someone in the conflict. I'm sure she wold have felt pretty much teh same if her son had died in a traffic accident on his way to an advance alert recall... As a parent I cannot imagine what it must feel like to outlive your children, but it happens, battlefield or no. It happens.

All in all she is full of ****. The president didnt kill her son.

I understand her grief and loss but It was her sons decision to sign up.

One of my best friends is there right now. It was his choice, nobody is to blaim for where or why he is there.

He sais he likes it. One of those guys[sm=americanasmiley.gif]

I am fairly certain that if I was killed over there, my mother would not take it well at all.

Fortunately, I wasn't. :-)

You will note that the rest of the Sheehan family have released a statement saying that they disagree with the mother's actions.

I agree that its gonna be tough for any mother to lose a son or daughter in war, but to blame the president and say he killed your son, thats just a crazy person talking (damn dirty Liberals), he was paying his debt to this country and he had to pay with his life, after all he signed up for it, theres no draft anymore.

She certainly has the right to ask him anything she wants, whether or not she accepts the answer is another thing. Personally, I am SICK of seeing non-insurgants die over there. I wish they(US and allies) would leave Iraq and turn it into a giant parking lot. Its beyond me why they(insurgants) wouldnt want the people of Iraq to vote on decisions that effect thier own country. They car bomb every democratic event. Ok, im gonna have to unsuscribe this thread, I just know some hippie is gonna post about peace and love just to get me all worked up

My biggest problem with the Iraq war is, not that many soldiers are dying. With how hostile and intense and risky a simple patrol in captured cities are, its amazing not more americans ave died. I'm not sure on totals, but havent less than two-thousand U.S. soldiers died in two years. Compared to previous wars this number is outstanding.

That's not harsh at all Bentframe.

IMO, she didn't seem to have a very public opinion on Iraq before her son died. Many people's sons and daughters have died to help the Iraqi people. I think she's being selfish. Bitching to the President isn't going to bring him back. Why doesn't she go to everyone in her sons chain of command and ask why he died, while she's at it.
