when i had my oil changed the last time, the mechanic used AGIP full synthetic oil. 5w-40.
it is not readily available in auto part stores. is there anything special about this brand?
i can get it online but is it really worth it?

most ppl around here use mobil 1. Im not sure on the viscosity but i think most use 0W-40

 

for the longest time i have been using amsoil 5w-30 then changed to there euro formula of 5w-40. now my car seems to lose less oil than before. i had to add a quart every 3000 miles or so (i change at 5k) it has been about 3000 miles and only down a half or so.

 

Everyone has their own favorite. I've always used Royal Purple. In my VR6 Turbo GTI I actually saw a slightly lower oil temp with it compared to other oils.

 

I'm just trying to get an idea if it is worth the effort to find AGIP oil.
It is out there on line, but Mobil 1 is readily available.

Has anyone used AGIP for an extended time period?

Right after I got my car I had a BG engine flush and then an oil change with Amsoil 5w/30.
