A true ONE guy car
A friend was telling me that some company is in development with Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Honda to develop a transponder that is used for finding lost dogs.
The idea is to implant the left thigh with the transponder and it can only be driven by that person for any distance over a 1/2 mile. Has anyone heard about this? Searching the internet gives up nothing... [&:] |
RE: A true ONE guy car
I'm confused. The transponder is implanted in the left thigh of a person? or a dog? How does this help to find a lost dog?
Sorry, I just didn't get what you were saying, but sounds interesting. |
RE: A true ONE guy car
I never, EVER drive MY dog for more than 1/4-mile... He tires easily lugging my 200+ pounds around, for some strange reason. Next year I trade his Chihuahua-ass in for a St. Bernard!

RE: A true ONE guy car
never heard of it but I don't think I like the idea of having a chip in my leg, what if I want to get a new car, do I get another chip, does the old one get taken out? It sounds painful and not like much fun.

RE: A true ONE guy car
nah, you just hafta carry your DOg around, who has teh chip in HIS leg... Whassa matta? You dont' read so clearly?!?!?

RE: A true ONE guy car
Is this a security thing so that a car can only be driven by the owner with the transponder, and can only go 1/2 mile driven by someone who doesn't have it?
I'd much prefer a simpler solution like a thumb print recognizer that opens the door and starts the car. I've seen laptops with them and they work great! (In fact I'm getting issued one with it at my new job today I think). |
RE: A true ONE guy car
Sorry, gents - allow me to clarify....
Using existing technology (like the transponders to find lost dogs with IRF tags) they implant said tag in the thigh of the owner and only that person (whilst sitting in the seat) can operate the car for over a 1/2 mile. Currently there's such a tag in our keys currently that registers in our Audis - so it's just a matter of marrying up the two technologies... And Jazz, I hear the dog rides you preeety well... ;) |
RE: A true ONE guy car
what happens when you leave your car for service? Do you leave a hunk of leg, too?!?!?
|
RE: A true ONE guy car
don't know - but they can't drive it over a half of a mile

RE: A true ONE guy car
im sure the dealer will be able to drive the car as well. something like a universal transponder...which thieves will copy and use to be able to steal your car.also if anyone ever had to drive your car, they couldn't. personally i think a better idea would be to put the transponder in a card to keep in your wallet. or maybe something like a decoder ring[8D]
