Default USPS Services

Hey guys,

I've always wondered about the different kinds of services that USPS provides when it comes to sending out packages.
I never really bothered finding out the answer when I'm at the post office but it somehow came into mind just now. In which, I was wondering if those of you who send out a lot of packages can enlighten me with some knowledge.

I know there are First Class and Priority Mail. What are the difference between these two?

Which one should I go with to assure faster delivery?

I'm mostly speaking about US (domestic).

I think they only have 2 options for international shipping; either regular or express. I could be wrong tho. I freeze up every time I have to send something and they give me all of the options.

Haha no they have First Class Intl and Priority Intl... as well as Global Express which is their fastest.

Isn't all this info on their website? Their horrible, horrible website... (huge PITA to find any info on intl transit times)

Yeah checked their website before I posted but there is no real clear explanation as to what is what. The website just simply states which one to use for which item.

I don't know why USPS doesn't invest some $ on upgrading their website. You are right about their tracking. It's so effing slow and really pointless to be honest. If UPS can do it, why can't they have a real time tracking.

They also have flat-rate shipping and they read your mind while you're in the building and send all your thoughts to the CIA.

^ ^ ^ Haha

And yes, tracking! I love USPS tracking. It's handy that they let you know your packaged arrived 2 weeks ago. Oh hay, thanks so much!

The ****'n SPAMM'r's post I just deleted (and, banned his sorry azz) did have a valid point, other than teh one under his hat:
In general, the smaller the package, the better off you are using the Post Office, and the bigger the package, the better off you are using UPS or FedEx.

I think the bigger the package the cheaper UPS or FedEx will charge you. Although from my personal experience, both FedEx and UPS take at least a week for a shipment while USPS takes about 3-4 days the most (from coast to coast).

Yeah the power of the Gov't vs. Private Sector. Everyone else has to watch their spending whereas USPS can run back to daddy Congress for more.
