How long has it been on there? Do other performance filters also have this problem like Kool Blue or Green Filter?

nope its fine to have a K&N. i did have a drop in one for years... i currently have a cheep cone intake right now. the prob is that people put too much oil on when reoiling it. when this hapens it does coat the maf. when i cleened my k&n i put my stock one in for a few days to let the oil "dry" and was fine anfter reinstaling it. never had a prob with them. even tho i dont have one i still have there sticker on my car. the sticker gives me added hp. i've got the k&n panel filter in my stock airbox, i'm thinking i'll keep it in. i've used k&ns on at least 8-9 of my vehicles (from gopeds to audis to shifter carts) and i've never had a problem with them. i'll use HB's technique of letting it dry for a couple days after reoiling.

Yeah, my car came with a K&N drop in... meh, wish I hadda known about the oil problem a while ago... because the day I decided to oil it... something came up shortly after, and I had to throw it back in, when it wasnt 100% dry. That was months ago though... and have no CELs or problems. Hmm. Maybe I'll switch back to OEM next time... i heard the gains are around 1 - 2 hp... so I doubt I'd miss them, if they exist.

The most you will see out of this is 5 hp, some claim 10 but thats way off. Months later after first installing it, I took out a sensor. Quite an exspensive job, I must say. Took it out and went to stock. Now Im running a couple mods and its back in. Can someone tell me why you would oil them in the first place?
