Default What is e-code?

Hi I have a dumb question. So I am looking for a new pair of headlights for my a4. What does e-code mean? Does it mean that it will be legal for the U.S.? Are e-code headlights aimed correctly for use in the U.S.? Thanx

Default RE: What is e-code?

'e-code' stands for european code (or european spec) headlights, the light output is supposedly better and more focused. technically they're not legal in the US because they have no side reflector and they don't have a DOT stamp on them (they do however have europe's equivalent toa DOT stamp). several people use them on their car with no problems...i've never heard of someone getting fined for e-code headlights
