I think we need a graduated license system for driving so you can take extra classes and get your top speed bumped up, but then you'd run into problem with cars running different speeds on the same road, so I would honestly just be happy if all the people in the US would start driving right and only pass left.

And the BMW guy was kinda funny, but it reminds me of some BMW owners I know.

Kind of a tangent thought... I read somewhere that the US Interstate Highway system was designed to accomodate speeds up to 250mph (assuming the weather, road surface, vehicle, and driver arecapable) - does anyone know if that's true, or just as made-up as the bit about how supposedly every sixth mile of the Interstate is straight and level so as to be used as an emergency landing airstrip?

Landing strip = fail

Just because it's been done before doesn't mean they were designed to be used as landing strips.

I knew the airstrip bit wasn't true. And I kinda figured the 250mph bit was sketchy too, just because there's a precedent for false rumors about the hwys.

That me3buddha guy gave a very good explanation of why the speed limit here is fine and how we need to improve things in the states for driving.

The veyron was on vw's test track which has a 5 mile straight stretch of road. Not many highways in the states would allow over 80 ever. Too many curves and idiot drivers.
