Audi in F1
Audi has had great success in motorsports (rally dominance of the early 80s and now with the Le Mans prototype program) I think it'd be great seeing Audi supplying an F1 team, maybe reviving the old "silver arrows" rivalry with those guys from Stuttgart. In the pre-war era of racing, the precussor to F1 was the European Championship, which was dominated by Auto Union and Mercedes-Benz. I'm sure Audi would be very successful in F1, possibly challenging for a championship on their first season.
I don't think they'd have a chance at all for a championship in their first year. That is crazy talk.
You're playing in the big boys arena in F1.
The winning teams have years and years of Formula 1 experience which is different than other motorsports.
Do I think Audi could eventually win if they did compete in F1? Sure.

Lets be honest now, Audi or more like VAG would only spend that much in F1 and u would need a min of a 10 years period to get something out of it! And sure once Audi gets ontop they would be hard to beat
The only companies that are going to get anything from the Tech of F1 and us it in there cars is Ferrari and prob AMG (MB)
I dont think u will find any of the stuff that Toyota learns in F1 will go into there Camry

I heard that Audi offered Schumacher over $13million for one year of DTM. That makes sense. Sorta.
Audi or VW spending $250million+ on running 2 cars for each season(the first year would be more with start up costs) - That doesn't make sense. Especially when Audi is already very successful in many other racing series. They are already capturing 95% of the guys that will buy a car because they are being raced on the weekend.

If BMW continue there success and Mercedes do well with Alonso and Hamilton then we can expect Audi to enter F1 under the banner of VW within five years - maybe as soon as next year with David Richards Prodrive set-up - I'm aware that Audi did contemplate it recently but the ridiculous costs prevented them from doing so and they decided to concentrate on their R10 project.
A comment was made about RedBull not doing so well in F1 - to be fair they have only been in F1 as a team and constructor for 2 seasons, they have achieved a 3rd place this season at Monaco with a car that has not been developed since March 2006, even then it was only developed to prevent cooling problems. Now that Adrian Newey has got the go-ahead to use the Renault units next season expect a bit leap forward - the chassis is going to be brilliant, we know that, the engine is also a world championship winning v8 which has had one failure only, Coulthard is ok but Webber is in a make or break part of his career - personally? I think he will end Coulthard's.
Audi in F1 would be brilliant - but inevitable. The sport is held up by the manufacturers and trust me, they will have to follow suit soon to get the global coverage F1 provides - just ask Honda, Mercedes, BMW, Toyota, Renault etc.

Audi isnt going F1 any time soon(years),they are to busy with american lemans and dtm (which they just won both in.)Audi has made its image in endurance racing and to abandon that and try something completely new that being f1 is to far fetched.Although wolfgang ullrich did say in an interview that american lemans isnt providing enough challenges for Audi in that sport and has mentioned them pulling out, which i know they wont do because american lemans is a fan sport(with every ticket being a paddock pass).Meaning you get to touch and breathe the cars you love.Going to F1 would damage their image right now in them making motorsport history at this moment. If you notice Dtm and ALMS are so supported by them they refuse to even race in the european lemans just because it Could! interfer with what they have in going for them in both DTM and ALMS.
