I'm in the Chicago area thinking about buying an 07 RS4 with 49K on it with no warranty. Outside of the normal ware items, tires, batt etc. what should I be looking for on cost keeping this car on the road? Before I buy what should I look for on the car, common problem areas? I plan to take the RS4 to an Audi tech to have someone look at the car, does anyone have a suggestion for a reliable tech in the Chicago area that will do a good job?

I am in the extended warranty field and would highly recommend putting a warranty on any Audi regardless the condition at time of sale.

 

The 4.2 FSI is known to have a carbon build up issue, which requires pulling the valve covers to clean. I would at least make sure this "service" has been performed before you buy.

I would also at least consider some sort of extended warranty if you're paying $35K+ for any 6 year old car... just saying.

 

I know the carbon build up can be a problem any other issue with shocks, breaks, 6 spd. Tran's. Who has a good warranty program?
