ALL RS4 OWNERS JOIN ME
Hello everybody.
I am new to the audi family and to this forum. Before I registered I read a lot of the posts and I am glad to be sharing some of your joys and sympathize with those who have problems. I want to point out the good things about my great car first and then will venture through the little pains. I have always been a fan of audi and quattro and I am happy to finally be driving their finest product to date. After calling all of the east coast up and down all through june I finally landed a black one in Rahway NJ. Before I was able to go look at the car and put a deposit on it I got a phone call from my dealer telling me someone was putting a deposit on the car and in order for me to get it I had to outbid him. The bid had to be 1,500 over the original quote. No thanks stick it up your a$$. I dont know when you guys got your cars but this had to be one of the very first in the US I would say it was June 6th when I had made contact. Someone else has ordered it and backed out. Anyway I wont carry on it was a goiod thing someone else bought the car because I got the best color I believe the rs4 has come out in. The dealer called me a week later telling me he had it in Mugello blue. I had him email photos and he did a few minutes after. It was instant "love" I knew i was going to buy it. I lived in nyc most my life and now I live in delaware so I went to nj, purchased it and loved the long ride back home. Noone knew what the car was, a few mbz and bmw had the nerve to try and keep up but this car is just too amazing and ate the njpke in no time. The handling is amazing, brakes are unreal and is just a dream to drive. It gets a lot of attention no matter where you drive it and their are a lot of people that know about the car that have been waving at me as I pass by, I even had one guy hanging out of his nissan in ocean city begging me to punch it for him. There have also been a brave infinity g30's i think, ( I never got to see the back of his car) that came up to me reving and also a mustang gt blew by me at 120mph only to be caught up to within seconds, passed and become a distant spectator as I was at 145 and still going with ease. I feel sorry for the infinity guy as he was embarassed with 3 hot looking girls in the car that seemed to want to switch cars when I let him caught up to me 4 lights later. Anyway blah blah blah, the stories go on. I love this car, its EVERYTHING magazines made it out to be before it crossed oceans. Its hard to stay off the trottle, it begs you to give it more and its so tempting but you must keep the break in period in mind all the time. I can say that I broke it in rather smoothly except for the one or two times it provoked me and I couldnt resist
and still didnt go over 7k rpms. Now at 5k miles she rides great, feels great, I always take the long way home. Its hard to keep this thing at speed limit, 25mph feels like 5mph, 40 feels like 25 and 70 feels like 50. I take turns at 90 that I would never dare at 40 with my rover. The "s" button sounds great to me and it feels better overall too. She is a little hard to keep clean but its ok I dont mind one bit. The one major knock to my excitment though has been the oil it consumes. At 2k miles the in dash indicator came on. I drove it home called the dealer the next day and told me to add some 5w40 or 5w30 if i couldnt find 5w40 and bring it up. I took it to willmington because the audi in dover told me they dont even mess with rs cars (another hour to get her serviced, hey its fine by me, as long as its noting negative
). The whole showroom emptied as i pulled up and they surrounded the car. I had them diagnose it change the oils and filter just to be safe and they said it all read off just fine. Drove the car for another 2.5k miles and i noticed fuel milage was below avg. I checked the oil and was almost dry again, another 2 quarts. and I am taking it up again this tuesday. This really knocks the excitment out of the purchase of this otherwise great car. Like i said intially i sympathize with everyone who is having a problem. I have tried to see why the car is burning up so much oil, I reved the engine and there is minimal smoke coming out the exhaust but there are black spats on the tips, smell like oil feels like oil too, it wont wash off easily. Could this be a ring problem? I hope this is nothing major and that I will have my car back asap. Let me know if you guys share my excitment and what you think of the problem i am facing.
Thanks guys

I own an A4 and I'm excited for you. Eventhough I can't afford an RS4 its nice to know that there is an Audi out there, with cool Audi owners that easily spanks most other luxury cars. Especially in light of all the hate Audi gets from Benz and BMW. lol. I pull up in my A4 and BMW owners are half near ready to throw rocks at my car. I know they love it though. Enjoy your ride, I hope the problem gets fixed.
oil consumption up to .5qt every 600 miles and "it needs to be checked often" is mentioned somewhere in your owner's manual.
When you pick up your car, buy a case of oil and keep a spare qt in the car so you have some when you need it.
you should go over to the BMW M5 forums....those boys are drinking up all the oil out there..... my buddy lost 2 qts in just his first 1000 miles and BMW said, this is normal at first, and it gets better, but it will do it to an extend.
these engines today are making a ridiculous amount of HP fir trheir size, it comes with a price
