Thanks 4 putting me off buying one in the future toysnob!
I was think maybe a one year old one?
Hehe

Sound a bit like similar engine probs they had when the B6 S4 came out with da V8

The engine in that thing is worth more than most other peoples cars - well not any more

Ahh
F**k!
What can i say toysnob?
It would be great if u could see the guys who built the engine and have a go at them

So what were the exact reasons for them needing to rebuild the engine 3 f*****g times?
Couldnt they get it rite after the 1st rebuild?
Gosh incompetence

His engine was never even rebuilt 1 time, the intake was removed

-How can you get confused removing the intake or rebuilding the engine? I used to remove my intake system completely (which I custom designed FYI) on a 5.9L 360 V8 and it is no big deal as long as you put it all back together right. Like mine, if there was a throttle body spacer, careful not to break any gaskets/other than that, it's a piece of cake. Something doesn't add upp? A project like that should take a couple of hours to fix...max!
-I Have not examend the RS system quite as much as I want but know they are all basically the same. There is obviously a lack of communication or the person relaying the info needs to get their head out of their A**. How was TS supposed to know, he is going based off of what he hear's from service. Major cluster FU**! Regardless, he needs better communication being that he just dropped 80k on what is "supposed to be" a bullet proof vehicle. What a bummer for him-geeze.

WOW t.s. sorry to hear about this problem. but i would have done the exact same thing and asked for the car to be replaced or refunded. please keep us updated on your issue. i hope AoA does what's right.

i came from a Subaru and left the brand after repeated attempts to fix a car under warranty were unsucessful, both with the dealer and with Subaru corporate. anyone can build a car and sell it. but it takes a real company to support their products and resolve issues for the customer. i hope i haven't jumped from the pan to the fryer by switching to an RS4...

by the way t.s., i would ignore what all the "armchair" mechanics and "riced out 1.8T" posters on the other site have to say. unless you've personally chunked down $73K+ of your hard earned cash on a brand new car, you will NEVER understand the frustration and anger you would feel when you're confronted with an issue like this. and if you can afford this car, i'm sure you'll agree it's never about the money; it's about the principle.

For what it's worth, I've got about 2500 miles on my RS4 with no problems so far.

Also, while this is somewhat controversial, many people (myself included) feel that you should break in a motor hard to ensure the rings seat properly under WOT. The gist of it is that piston rings will seat completely at full throttle; at half throttle and lower, you're going to seat the rings at a diameter that is slightly less than they'll expand to at WOT. What does this mean? Well, at full throttle after your engine has been broken in, the rings aren't going to open completely, allowing oil and gasses to blow-by, burning oil and potentially damaging pistons.

Your dealer may have done you a favor by bringing your car out back and zooming it around the block a few times.

I ran my car as hard as possible for 500 miles, and hope to continue to do so for the life of it.

Just don't get over your head man. You have the upperhand, don't fumble it.

First 500 play with it at low to middle revs. 500-1000 middle to high and 1000-1500 mainly high revs. Basically, break the car in the way you want to drive it...couldn't agree more. Did the same and it is running great. I'm @ 2200 miles and she is running beautifully, couldn't be happier with my RS and the way it is performing. Do feel bad for the others who are not so fortunate.
