Default RS4 0-60 time (REALISTIC)

Now I have owned an RS4 in the Mugello Blue color since March. I love driving it, through all terrain and all seasons. (Yet to experience Winter).

My good friend who I work with loves my car. I broke it in really nicely, and he wanted to go for a drive with me.

I've always thought Audi was optomistic with their 0-62 time for the RS4 of 4.8 seconds, meaning 0-60 would be reached in 4.6 seconds (est). I had another passenger in the car, I'm not too high above sea level, and there was a little weight in the trunk. I came to a dead stop at a red light next to some kid with a sleeper. He thought he was so cool, and he'd take me with ease.

He was wrong. My friend in the passeneger side agreed to time the 0-60 time that I would want to reach. The light turned green and with sport mode on and a few revs, I burnt the kid. My friend timed a 0-60 time of about 4.5 seconds, realistically. According to his watch indeed. I didn't think that was real, because usually Audi is optimistic. (Audi S4).

The kid was astonished, he was beat cold, and he didn't have a clue what I was driving. Keep in mind I'm a seasoned driver who can shift without losing much of any time at all. The next red light we came to we got to 60 in 4.6 seconds. I couldn't believe that my car was actually that fast with extra weight in it.

Anyone else test their RS4's 0-60 time? It's such a fast car, and I love my lighter interior to death. Best 74K I've ever spent on something.

audi usually underrate their cars 0-60 times, i see the RS4 doing it in 4.4 in road tests all the time, i have heard a little lower too. R8 can do 4 flat with the manual

Glad to hear you're lovin the car.. fantastic isnt it
I just have a couple questions for you...
1. How did you launch to get that time.. did you clutch drop and if you did at what rpms, or did you slip real quick and at what rpms
2. What rpms are you moving from 1st to 2nd. I find myself having to stay ahead of the engine as it is so free revving that redline comes before you know it and you lost time
3. Any suggestions on smoothing out that 1-2 shift? revs drop so damn fast that I almost have to keep that throttle up or blip... This is the first manual I've driven with this much power and am still pulling my hair out getting those early shifts smoother. Thanks in advance! and pardon my noobism

I revved the car once to about 6,000 RPMs.

I then revved it at 4,000 and let go of the clutch quickly shifting into 1st, and I barely got any tire scrub because of the 4WD. I almost hit the rev limiter in 1st (I went to about 8150 RPMs), then quickly shifted and floored it again. Before I knew it I was up to 8250 in 2nd at about 63 MPH.

Smoothing about the shift from 1st to second is just a matter of time. As you get more experienced with racing, it comes as second nature, and you shouldn't be losing many Revs when shifting. Although, one complaint I have is that the Sport button isn't on the steering wheel. In my old M3 it was.

But this car absolutly destroys my old M3.

Good luck!

thanks for your help! so im assuming you just let the clutch out very quickly rather than dropping it at 4000. That engine sounds ridiculous at 8250 doesnt it . I open my windows and turn the radio off just to listen to it!

My engine is fully broken in now at 5,000 miles.

I went to some VERY desolate roads with my good friend in the car. We went out at around 3AM and keep in mind I'm about at sea level or very close to it.

After multiple tests and burning the clutch once, these were some results:

(Keep in mind also there was another person in the car with me and golf clubs in the trunk.)

0-60 first time: 4.78
0-60 2nd time: 4.62
0-60 3rd time: 4.74

0-100 1st time: 11.02
0-100 2nd time: 10.89

We couldn't test 1/4 mile because we didn't know how far it would be.

After those accelerating tests, it was time to test handling out:

There's a turn in my area that I set for all cars I drive. The speed limit is 20 around the turn, and it's a full circle. With my old 2004 S4, I could take the turn at 42 and that was where it would start to break.

Here's the results with the RS4:

1st time around: 48 (as a test run, easy)
2nd time: 56 (the car was starting to squeal a bit)

After that it was time to go home. I'll post pics of my RS4 as soon as I can.

Well, I've always driven stick. In order to get these 0-60 times, you need to burn the clutch and let it go early, so you can go full throttle.

I'm sure a good driver could get it to 60 in much under 5 by even not burning the clutch.

I don't take my golf clubs out because it's a pain to put them back in. I have no room in my garage for them, so I have to put them in the basement.

I've had thechance to come across another RS 4 in my town. I asked him to race me and my car seems to be a lot faster. I have a K&N intake and Milltek Exhausts.

Does anyone think it is possible for my car to go to 60 in less than 4.4 seconds?
I never timed it and never took it to the track.
