RS6 Service Schedule
Assuming it's the '03 and not the new RS6, it's the same as the 20K service except for:
Check power steering fluid.
Replace air filter.
Replace Plugs
This is from the Bentley Manual. I would verify with the dealer. I'm also assuming that you know what's done on the 20K interval. If not, let me know. There's a lot of things that are done.

I believe the 30k service has a belt replacement - if yours wasn't done at 30k, maybe they are telling you it needs to be done on your 40k service? If not, better do it - ouch on the wallet though. But if not done and they fail, BIG ouch on the wallet.
Why would someone that owns an RS6 have to worry about any hits on the wallet. Im sure those type of people live way bellow their means and are virtually debt free to need to worry about something as simple as auto service.

Well... You would think so but I came real close to buying one earlier this year and I'm flat broke. The only thing that stopped me was I wasn't getting a good trade on the 4.2. The banks are strange. My wife got an M5 financed and since I known her, she's never had a job.

I was worried my card or details would be mis-used someday and the bank would say "you did not take adequate care of your credit card" and hence "you are liable for all uses of the card"
No thanks....
I was hoping to get some more specific info on the 35k service. I bought mine as Certified, preowned with 24k miles. It's now at 35k and the dealer is telling me the service includes all the belts etc. However, no other Audi service shops can find any info requiring this change. Any further thoughts about where I can find better info?
By the way, if you've made enough money to afford an RS6, it probably means that you've been smart about how you spend your money, so paying $3500 for a service that no one but the dealer seems to know anything about makes no sense.

RS6 service points are done "every 10 on the 5's" - so there's a 5k, 15k, 25k, 35k, etc. The 35k service does include belts, air filters, oil and filter and spark plugs, among others. Check the owner's manual and warranty book - it's fairly clear in there. There are also complex (read: only Audi understands the exact formula) tables that determine when a service can be done as they can be triggered by a combination of both time and mileage. I had my 35k service done at roughly 26k miles, just did my 45k at 34k. Make the service tech (usually clueless) show you the actual table for what service is due on yours. Enjoy.
