'00 S4...no boost
Hey forum,
First, many thanks to Blue_S4. The tip on the front brakes was right on time.
Now...I'm not getting any turbo boost. I searched the forum and found a thread in which 2K S4 recommended changing the Coolant Temp Sensor for $17, which solved the other poster's problem. Would this be the sensor that's located under the MAF? What else should I check while I'm at it? I think Bentley's mentions a fuse, but doesn't say where it is.

CEL is on. I got like 15 fault codes...Fuel Air Metering, MAF or VAF Circuit Low, 02 Sensor CTK, Torque Convertor, Ignition System or Misfire, Camshaft PositionSensor.
The car runs but doesn't have much power because of zero boost. I didn't hear any strange noises or get any other clues before it happened. I glanced over the vacuum hoses, butwill do a closer inspection. I was hoping I could replace some cheap parts like sensors and fuses to see if that corrects it. Any suggestions besides Air Coolant Temp Sensor?

I'm still trying to figure out why my turbos aren't working. Facts:
*car runs pretty good, just not much power without turbos
*briefly getting some white smoke from exhaust, and a bit from under the hood, when I start off cold.
*getting some fumes smells kinda like unburned fuel
*changed coolant temp sensor...still runs the same
What would make the turbos stop working like that all of the sudden without any warning noises?
ECM bad?
O2 sensors?
fuse? (the fuses in the fuse box are not labeled and Bentley's is too technical)
I gotta say that Bentley's wasn't written for the average joe. It's pretty technical. I think I'll have to either pay big $$ to shop or sell it as is and go japanese that don'tneed so much maint. I grew up working on cars from the 60's, so I'm way out of my league with all the issues my car has. If I could figure out the turbo thing, though, I think I'd get a second wind and tackle some of the other issues. Any ideas appreciated!
