02 S4 B5 Spoiler
Has anyone worked w/ fiberglass before? I'm going to be buying a spoiler for my audi, but it's not exactly for my car, I need to sand it so it fits super flush. I've never done work w/ fiberglass before and I'd like some feedback to know what I'm getting into. FYI the sanding is only going to be a maximum of an inch in places, but it needs to contour to my trunk properly so lots of trial fits after sanding will be going on...
It will be very messy and bad for your lungs so be sure to wear a respirator mask.
The only real tips I can give are to make a template out of something such as potserboard to get the contour matched perfectly rather than just hacking away and eyeballing it.
After you trace the contour onto the work, remove material slowly and check your progress against the trunklid.
Also a good tip is to masking tape the entire mounting surface and surrounding areas on the car to protect the paint.

Yeah you don't want to do too much trial and error. Make yourself the closest approximation possible by that great template idea of red's and then go almost to that point. Also if you have to sand that much use a dremel, they make such clean finishes.
