03 330i Vs 2000 S4
yeah, I figured as much, but he asked for it... he was following me around town, a few carlengths behind, and as soon as I hit a red light, he pulled up beside me and revved, so I felt compelled to obliterate him...
I havethe last gen e46330i Performance Package - and it is a deceptively fast car - not as fast as a tuned B5 S4 - but still pretty quick. I've been able to keep right with e46 M3s with it...but thats me driving. At Stage 2 I once had to work (a bit) to keep with an identicle car as mine from off the line. I was behind him and he got out real good (I wasn't pushing it - but just the same) - but I reeled him in pretty good - thoguh not without some effort.
The new BMW 335i E92. Will own us. Stock they are low 13sec cars. Get some mods in them and it is not good at all.
On the other hand from what i have heard Audi is coming with another Twin-turbo motor in the next few years...the 3.5 TFSI? correct

see, im confused....all this fuss about straight-line racing. the B5 is a 3700lbs porker. Its not a drag racer...plus with awd, its going to be slower off the line than rwd counterparts. these cars are made to go around corners. even the new 335, tho faster in a line, not faster around corners, its slower thru the cones than the b5 was 6-8 years ago (tho not by much). if you want to go fast in a straight line, buy a large displacement car...if you want to actually drive your car, and scare the hell out of your passangers thru the twisties, then you have the right car.
granted, these cars are by no means slow, but they shine in higher speeds, not off the line...a BMW with 50 more stock hp, and nearly 300 less lbs, of course its going to be faster...

That's why even a relatively mildly modified Evo is basically untouchable on the street and why the HPA R32 Golf gets to 60mph in 3.2 seconds, beating most if not all Ferraris and Lambos.
But you are right about the power sapping nature of AWD.
