Default 04 S4... A complete DOG

DEAR ENTHUSIASTS,

CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY DOES MY TWO MONTH OLD 2004 S4 RUN LIKE A COMPLETE DOG??

WHEN THE CAR IS STATIC AND THE ENGINE IS TICKING OVER AT 800-900RPM, EVERY SO OFTEN THE ENGINE JUDDERS AS IF THERE IS A MISS-FIRE OR FOULING PLUG. THIS SHAKES THE WHOLE CAR.

TO EXAGERATE THE PROBLEM, HOLD THE REVS AT AROUND 1600 OR HIGHER, THE WHOLE CAR BODY IS SHAKING CONSIDERABLY, THIS IS NO EXAGERATION.

MY DEALER MAKES ALL SORTS OF EXCUSES, IS IT BECAUSE THEY LACK THE EXPERIENCE OR KNOWLEDGE TO RECTIFY IT. GET THIS, THEY TRIED TO TELL ME IT WAS "HARMONICS" HAVE YOU EVER HEARD SUCH BULL, THEN IT WAS TO DO WITH ENGINE MOUNTS, SOMETHING ABOUT THEM BE FLUID FILLED AND REGULATED BY THE ECU? WHAT ARE THEY LIKE!!

I EXPECTED BETTER THAN THIS FROM A REPUTABLE GERMAN MARQUE. TO SAY I AM FRUSTRATED AND DISSAPOINTED WOULD BE A MILD UNDERSTATEMENT.

IF ANYONE HAS ANY ANSWERS, OR HAS/HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS, I WOULD LIKE TO HEAR FROM YOU.

CHRIS

Sounds like total bs to me... Harmonics? fluid filled engine mounts causing a lack in power? If you have a GREAT amount a power lose it could be the turbos.

It's too hard to say exactly without sitting there. Is there another audi dealer in the area? You may want to contact North America Audi if you can't resolve the problem. They usually keep the dealers in line. There's no excuse for poor service at the stealership.

If you know their number, i'll be on the phone first thing.

When i was on the phone to a guy called Doug at Classic Audi Orlando, i was tempted to tell him to put his backside nearer the phone, cos i couldn't quite hear him!!

yes, there are no turbos, they saved those for the $80k RS4.

The dealership has had my car for two days now, i've not heard from them today after contacting Audi USA, who advise me they stand by their dealers, even if they are talking complete BS and dont know how to fix my car. I told them i dont want it back until it is fixed. As if that makes a difference.

Are there any 04 S4 owners out there that will hold their cars revs at 1600rpm and let me know if their car is smooth or vibrating??

thanks
Chris

Honestly man, the year shouldnt matter. No vehicle should have a shake or vibration at only 1600. Let the dealership fix it and get you taken care of.
