i think i remember seeing somewhere that the recommended oil viscosity is 0w-40?? Is this correct or is it something more traditional like 5 or 10w-30

 

alot of people run 0-w40 i myself, do and i live in the Northeast climate, have no issues in summer heat or winter cold. I use mobil 1 full synthetic. i know that there is people using all types of oils, 5w30 5w40 0w30 all that stuff, its all for your climate and preference really.

 

i run amsoil 5-40 ONLY....but 0-40 is thick but good for a turbo charged car cause it can heat up and cool down really fast...

 

^^ UH No.^^ 0-40 is thin. The first number is the weight of the oil. 0 weight is almost as thin as water. I personally run a 10-40 for summer, and will switch to a 5-30 for winter, both being mobil 1.

Use mobil1 0-40w fully synthetic and you will never have to worry, its the oil Audi recommends, its what the Porsche shop uses by my house, it even says European car formula on the bottle. So I think you'd be good. I live in Georgia and its hot here, like over a hundred almost everyday and my car runs great in the heat.
