Default 1.8T engine compared to 2.7 biT??

In terms of how long the engine will last how do they compare?
I know the 1.8T will last 200+ no prob, but what about an s4 b5 engine?

Also, does this deal look good? which one is better?

Well the silver car has had its turbos replaced which is worth its weight in gold, i would ask him if they are K04's which would be a double score. The black one will cost you another $7,000 in replacement costs.
The engine will literally last hundreds of thousands of miles, but there are lots of little problems that go wrong with the 2.7T, oil leaks, boost leaks, vacuum leaks, coolant leaks, etc. They can also handle lots of horsepower 500+ without modifing the internals.

The 1.8T on the other hand is much easier to work on, especially the turbo replacement.
However, the engine's connecting rods are only good for about 350 horsepower. So if you plan on putting a turbo larger than a GT28RS you will blow the motor most likely. Unless you do a T3/T4 journal bearing turbo that spools much slower.

The 1.8T is capable of going damn fast, but the S4 is down right sexier, but the maintenace costs are higher, so factor that in.

You should never have to worry about the engine except valve cover gaskets and cam seals. Other than that, they are almost indestructable. I've known of race teams to use them for up to two seasons without rebuilding or replacing any part of the engine. As said above, the only to worry about are the turbos are a lot of other issues. Read the FAQ and ask anything else you may be worried about.

if you do your own labor, you can replace the turbos very cheaply. if you pay labor, it's quite expensive.

k04's need inlet pipes at the least to fit, but you won't benefit from them without upgrading injectors, maf, and fuel pump, and then getting a tune. Also you'd want bigger intercooler(s), full exhaust, clutch upgrade too.

I read somewhere that you neeed to pull out the engine to replace turbos?
Is this true? or can you just get under the car to replace the turbos?
