Default 19x8" RS4 Replicas - Tire Size

Guys, need a little help here..

I've searched and read a few threads regarding wheel size, but neither seemed to answer the question of tire size per rim size. I ordered a set of 19x8" RS4 replicas from Josh @ Achtuning last week, and will be ordering tires tomorrow or Tuesday through my rep at Discount Tire.

225-35 or 235-35 w/o rubbing problems on those wheels? H&R coilovers are getting installed the same day, so it will be adjusted and scaled before alignment. Some say 225, some say 235. Bottom line, that difference in size isn't worth rubbing problems for me. Not ready to get into fender rolling..........yet.

Drop a post on here if you're using this wheel... interested in hearing your input!

Later,
Brad

FYI--Josh recommended 225's but also wasn't quite sure about the 235's. My local shop has run 235-35's on 19x8.5's w/o rubbing issues (so they say) but I'm just not so sure about that under *hard* cornering. Compared to my Cobra, I take this thing around turns *very* hard, because strangely enough at a 350hp disadvantage it doesn't really slide the *** out from under itself as violently.

19" are a little too big, look to 18". 19s are heavy and because the center of gravity is further away it makes t harder for your engine to turn the wheels. and because of its massive size it makes you brakes look like cheerios.

BTW im not being critical im just tring to help

Wheels are already ordered. 18" is not an option for me. I realize 19's are heavier, but I really don't care. I will compensate with more power. This is just the 2nd week I've owned this car and I have a lot in store for it. The Saleen body kit added quite a bit of weight to my Mustang. No biggie. So did the 18x9"/18x10" wheel combo and the 2 12" subs and 4 amplifiers.... the aftercooler.....the supercharger..... all weight adders

There is just a point where the looks overtake the advantage of saving 25-30lbs. And it's unsprung weight so it's of even a lesser concern to me to be honest. 30lbs is nothing when I'm going to end up putting stereo in the trunk anyway. And don't take this the wrong way, but I have never really understood the import mindset of every pound counts when you're dealing with factory turbo or supercharged engines. On naturally aspirated engines I can understand the concern. Sure, swap out seats, yank out the back seats if you want to, and put some Spoon wheels on the thing with carbon fiber fenders, trunks, and hoods because you only have 165hp to work with and a little baby engine. This is a 2.7L twin turbo car that can easily make 350hp with minor mods, and over 400hp with a turbo upgrade. High 12's with bolt-ons. Apples to oranges.

And 1" increase in wheel size, .5" on each side of the hub, really isn't going to make the brakes look like "cheerios." They are big brakes to start. If this was a Honda Civic, I might see your point. It's only 1" man... we're not talking like a 5" upsize from stock wheels. S4's have big brakes anyway!

Not trying to be argumentative, just trying to state some facts.

Man, the 19 inch wheel is sick. I have a 2000 Silver S4 with the 19 inch RS4 replica, and I get nothing but compliments. Tire rub is not a problem at all. Im running a 225 Toyo Proxy Z rated tire. My only complaint, and it is a very minute complaint, is that from certain angles the width of the tires looks fairly skinny. Otherwise, no qualms about the rim at all. I just hope you didn't pay more than $600 for them. I see them on ebay for $600 everyday of the week.

By the way, is the car an 04? The rims looks especially sick on the new S4. Good Luck.

No the car is a 2000. I am going to go with the 225-35's just in case. I'll see if I have any rubbing and go from there for the next set of tires.

And yes I spent more than the eBay pricing. The eBay wheels from my understanding are cast in China and finished in Italy. I bought the Hartmann Wheel replicas which have a higher quality casting and finishing process. Also, all of the eBay companies I called said their 19x8" wheels would not fit a 2000 S4, so regardless of whether it was their stupidity or not, I wasn't going to buy wheels from someone who wouldn't guarantee fitment on my car. Unfortunate for them I guess

I'm used to really big tires on my 'stang so these will look tiny in comparison. But, being AWD more than makes up for it. It's the equivalent of a 450mm contact patch!

This is a B5 not a B6, though, so the clearances are different AFAIK.

Hey man. Good luck with the rims. Man O' Man, everytime I see those 19's on that new B6 S4, I wanna tell my parents just to give me the rest of my tuition money. I may be looking at a janitorial position for the rest of my life, but it WOULD BE WORTH IT!!!!

Has anybody that is reading this bought the replicas off of eBay?? I'm curious about the quality of the finish and such -- my wheel order with Achtuning may be falling through since I ordered last Wednesday and they still have not shipped from the other side of the country yet. Achtuning was $1100 w/ OEM RS4 center caps.. eBay is $699. That's a hell of a price jump.
