so i just got a 2001 audi 2.7T tiptronic and i was talking to my friend about mods and he said that i needed to get cold air intake and a new exhaust system before an ecu would make a difference.. is this true? and if so what ones should i buy?

 

Chip first and then exhaust.

 

chip and exhaust, dont do a cold air intake. maybe just a darintake ( search for it) it's just cutting the bottom of your stock airbox.
and if you want even more power for a little more $, look up 'piggie' dp's - only $400 at vast. piggies = gutted cats in stock dp's
For a chip/flash you can go for the more popular brands. GIAC and APR.

You should tell your friend that a chip alone produces more than 70hp/tq haha...

 

Also, the intake and exhaust just support the chip by giving you just a little more even after the reprogram. Explanation= piggies and exhaust help the turbos breathe and spool quicker, darintake is for more air flow.

 

What kind of car does your friend have that he thinks a cold air intake would benefit a 2.7t? And what do you have? S4, A6, Allroad?
