Am I correct in assuming there's no dipstick for the transmission fluid? Most of the results of my search here referred to other engines so I just wanted to be sure I just wasn't missing a bright colored dipstick in front of my face.

Also how can you tell if your car is an 01 or 01.5? I've noticed my S4 logo in the dash cluster is on the left under the rpms and I've seen pictures of other 01 S4's with the S4 logo on the right side under the speedo. Which is which?

no dipstick. you check it by pulling the filler plug and when it gets to opperating temp. (80 c) I think? maybe. it should start to run out of the filler cap. if it doesn't drip out then you need to add fluid.

 

is it a 6 speed or a Tip? The Tip i know is sealed off for "lifetime". It does not need service. This is what my dealership told me. You need a special machine to fill the tranny if you drain it. There is no fill plug either. It is pumped up from the bottom.
